Grotesque Oil Pastel Project
This project was created to show the world of different styles to my 8th grade students. This project is fun and engaging, and students have a lot of fun leaning into it and coming up with some wacky ideas.
This project allows for a ton of creativity and students seem to really enjoy the freedom in it. No two pieces are ever the same when doing this project, and I have done it for all four years of teaching. |

My Path
This project allows students to show a path they take often in their life that is important to them, and explain why it is important to them. Students will utilize visual storytelling, sensory details, and creative linework to portray their thoughts and feelings about this path they take often in life.

Presenting a Series
This project gives students the opportunity to create a series of art. This allows students to stretch their ideas, and consider how to depict them with multiple pieces that work together. Students will glue their series onto a black paper, so they are together at the end. This gives students the opportunity to take a big idea and create several pieces that work together.

Themed Cities (Two-Point Perspective)
This project allows students to build a city with a creative theme. Their theme could be anything; an under the ocean city, a kitty city, or a cartoon city, just to name a few that have been created over the years. Students love this project, as it gives them a chance to be creative and silly while drawing something they think is rather easy to draw (after the demonstration). The pieces that come out of this project are so cool, I will continue to teach it every year!

Watercolor/Oil pastel resist
This project will allow students to step into the shoes of a scientist and learn what happens when you mix oil and water! Students will utilize this neat interaction to create some fun and cool looking art using watercolors and oil pastels. This project is a lot of fun, and allows students to experiment with multiple types of materials.

Printmaking Diptych
Students will get the chance to learn two very important concepts in the art world: printmaking, and diptychs. This project brings together the two in a really fun way! Students will get a chance to create a interesting project featuring an animal and it's habitat, and will learn how to make a print while doing so. This lesson is very fun and engaging, and students love printmaking!
